A winding 1.3-mile paved road leading to the scenic summit is open for visitors to drive in summer and on spring and fall weekends. People also just leave the bags on the side of the trail. Miller Canyon Trail to Miller Peak is a 10.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Sierra Vista, Arizona that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The first 2 miles or so are real leg burners. The brushes can get tight so I recommend pants and a long sleeve shirt. You can’t see it from here, but the views are truly spectacular from the small summit block. The Border Patrol has a tracking station in the trail parking lot, watching for drug smugglers with radar and night cameras. Although the scenery along the way is not as spectacular as some other hikes in southern Arizona, the view from the summit is as far as the eye can see in all directions. What was also frustrating - people really don’t pick up after their pets. I live at 230ft MSL but found myself out in this area on work. In spring, this hillside explodes with wildflowers. It’s long. Drive 3.3 miles to the trailhead at the end of this road.Parking is limited here, and keep in mind that other cars have to pass, so park so that others can come and go. The trail was in great shape except for one tight area - not a big deal.
